                              Crime Alert

A University student lost jewelry and cash in an
apparent scam on April 29, and University Police are looking
for anyone who may have information or have been approached
by the two individuals involved.
Two suspects are described as follows: a black male
with an African accent, in his 30s, 5'8" tall, medium build,
brown complexion, last seen wearing a knee-length gray
trench coat and a buttoned-down white shirt; and a black
male with short dreadlocks, in his 30s, 6' tall, heavy
build, dark complexion, last seen wearing blue pants with a
blue shirt and a white shirt underneath, with a beret.
This scam, known as the "pigeon drop," requires you to
mix your money with a large amount of the suspect's money in
order to show good faith on your part. The suspects then let
you hold all the money until they get back a short time
later; however, all you are really holding is folded up
papers wrapped in cloth to look and feel like U.S. currency.
Individuals who have been a victims of such a scam or
who want to report information are asked to contact the
University's criminal investigations unit at 831-2683.
