academic freedom and tenure, discrimination, labor law,
faculty governance and tax law. She has participated in

circles.

CTE to present writing workshop
The Center for Teaching Effectiveness will present a
workshop entitled "Uncovering Content Through Writing:
Writing to Learn" from 1-4 p.m., Friday, April 25, in Room
209 Trabant University Center.
The program, presented by Claudia Reder, honors
program, is designed for people who teach writing courses,
but all who use writing in their classes are welcome.
Writing helps students learn the thinking processes of
a discipline. Students also improve thinking skills, content
mastery, communications skills and self-awareness.
Using creative approaches and "hands-on" exercises, the
session will explore Peter Elbow's ideas of "high-stakes"
and "low-stakes" writing assignments and responses to
student writing. The workshop also will focus on different
types of writing assignments and ways to integrate writing
into courses to make learning more visible.
