Disabilities training sessions set
New Visions, a one-time, six-hour training seminar that
provides an introduction to mental retardation and
developmental disabilities issues will be offered at least
once a month in Newark and Dover from April through August.
Class registrations are now being accepted by the UD's
Center for Disabilities Studies.
The training seminar is recommended for supervisors,
school personnel, individuals with disabilities or their
families. Cost is $10 with the fee waived for employees of
agencies sponsored by the state's Division of Mental
Retardation (DMR). Payment is due with registration.
Classes will be offered in Newark on April 18, June 6,
July 9 and Aug. 1. Dover classes will be held on May 16,
July 11 and Aug. 6.
New Visions meets the state's requirements for annual
in-service credits for workers in these fields and is a
prerequisite course for those seeking the Quality Management
and Supervision Certificate or the Quality Service and
support Certificate, both offered through the center.
The Quality Management and Supervision Certificate
Program is an 18-seminar program designed to give managers
and supervisors basic management skills. The Quality Service
and Support Certificate Program is a 14-session program
designed to enhance the work of support professionals.
