Accessibility is subject of talk
     Larry Field, an accessibility and barrier removal
specialist, will present a free, public program on
"Architectural and Product Accessibility" from 3:30-5 p.m.,
today, at the Idea Factory, 124 East Delaware Ave., on the
UD campus.
     Owner of the consulting company, A. Lawrence Field and
Associates, Field is part owner of several Accessibility
Centers and is a long-standing member of the Architectural
Accessibility Board, where he was employed as an
administrator for 10 years.
     The program is sponsored by the Science, Engineering
and Math (SEM) Program of the Applied Science and
Engineering Labs in conjunction with the Office of Americans
with Disabilities Act.

Eric Marcus is discussion leader
     Eric Marcus, coauthor of Breaking the Silence, the
autobiography of Olympic swimmer Greg Louganis, and
Icebreaker: The Autobiography of Rudy Galindo, will lead a
discussion entitled, "I've Got A Secret...And It's Killing
Me," at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 24, in the Rodney Room of
the Perkins Student Center.
     The discussion, about being lesbian, gay or bisexual,
is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the
Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual Concerns Office, the Department of
Sociology and the Criminal Justice Program. The program is
part of Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian Awareness Month.

Book signing in bookstore today
     Ed Okonowicz, public relations, will sign copies of his
newest book, Presence in the Parlor, featuring ghost stories
of New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and the Eastern Shore of
Virginia, from 4:30-6, today, in the University Bookstore in
the Perkins Student Center.
     
Three workshops on pension info
     Three workshops have been scheduled about state of
Delaware pension and retirement information.
     For individuals in Kent and Sussex counties, a workshop
will take place from 7-9, tonight, at Milford High School.
     Two workshops are scheduled in New Castle County: from
7-9 p.m., Thursday, April 17, at Mt. Pleasant High School,
and from 7-9 p.m., Thursday, April 24, at Stanton Middle
School.
     Members of the State Pension Office and Social Security
Administration will be featured during the program.
     The workshops are sponsored by the State Pension
Advisory Council and the State Board of Pension Trustees.
Cosponsors include the American Federation of State, County
and Municipal Employees, Council 81, and the Salaried Staff
Association.
     
New program on campus SLTV
     The Laird Chronicles, an offshoot of The Harry and
Larry Show featured on SLTV's What in the Hall?, will appear
each semester.
     The first segment of the new series, which focuses on
life in the residence hall with a slight comic twist,
featured Eli Lesser, Resident Student Life president.
Richard Gaw and Rob Longwell-Grice, housing assignment
services, are in charge of production.
     What in the Hall? appears at approximately 1 and 7 p.m.
every Tuesday.
     
Annual variety show on April 19
     The Cosmopolitan Club will present International Night,
its biggest event of the year, starting at 7:30 p.m. on
Saturday, April 19, in Mitchell Hall. Admission is $3, and
tickets will be sold at the door.
     The event blends song, dance and other elements to give
those attending an international experience. A fashion show
featuring styles from many different countries also is
planned.

Vietnam photos in Clayton Hall
     "A River Runs Through It: Daily Life in the Mekong
Delta" is the title of an exhibition of photos from southern
Vietnam on display through May 1 in Clayton Hall.
     The exhibit features color photos taken by Mark McLeod,
history, during a summer 1996 trip through southern Vietnam.
     Clayton Hall hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. For more

Coastal change is focus of program
     "5,000 Years of Environmental Change in Turkey" is the
focus of a presentation by John Kraft, H. Fletcher Brown
Professor of Geology, to be given at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday,
April 16, in Room 004 Kirkbride Hall.
     The presentation is part of the Society of Natural
History of Delaware spring 1997 lecture series.
     
Ray Street halls to host annual fair
     Students who live in University housing on Ray Street
in Newark will sponsor their fifth annual Ray Fair from noon-
5 p.m., Saturday, April 26.
     The annual event, which benefits the Food Bank of
Delaware, will feature music, food, volleyball, a moon
bounce capsule and a petting zoo for children. Open to the
public, admission is either $1 or a donation of one canned
good.
     Performers will include Gingham Schmuz, Juliet's
Wishing Well, Cecil's Water, and folksinger Antje Duvekot.
The food court will feature barbecue, snow cones and cotton
candy.
     Ray Fair is co-sponsored by the Office of Residence
Life, Special Interest Housing and the Resident Student
Association. The fair's rain date is Sunday, April 27. For

May 4 clinic set on women's lax
     The University has been selected to host a Youth
Education through Sports (YES) Women's Lacrosse Clinic from
9 a.m.-1 p.m., Sunday, May 4, as part of the America East
Women's Lacrosse championships, to be held in Newark on May
3-4.
     The free clinic is for girls ages 10 through 18 and
will include instruction on basic skills, conditioning and
life skills, taught by college coaches, administrators and
student-athletes.
     The clinic is for all girls, especially those new to
the sport and who have had little exposure to women's
lacrosse. The clinic also will include a session for parents
from 9-10:30 a.m. with information on nutrition, financial
aid and NCAA compliance. The clinic also includes free
admission to the lacrosse tournament.
