Sea Grant funding available
The National Sea Grant College Program has funding
available under its National Strategic Investments Program
for projects in two areas in FY 1998 and FY 1999. Funds
available for both years will be awarded through this
announcement.
The two areas include:
* Marine Biotechnology-A national research program in
marine biotechnology research and in the development of new
and innovative techniques and projects in the areas of
environmental remediation, drug development, biomaterials
development, fisheries resource management, aquaculture and
environmental assessment.
* Sea Grant-NOAA Partnership Program for Strategic
Research and Development-Designed to encourage greater
cooperation between NOAA and the University community.
$500,000 per year is available for research and development
grants that involve collaborative projects between Sea Grant
universities and other NOAA entities that focus on
sustainable development of our coastal, marine and Great
Lakes environment.
Proposals for both areas are due by June 13 in UD's Sea
Grant Office, Room 103, Robinson Hall.
One original and 12 copies of each proposal are
required. Also, Marine Biotechnology Investors should
include a list of 10 suggested reviewers for each proposal.
Budgets must include matching funds of $1 non-federal per $2
of federal funds requested. Investigators should coordinate
budgets and NOAA forms with Sue Thompson, 831-6297, Sea
Grant Office, prior to submission.
