                    New database provides 'Science
                    Indicators' info from 1981-1995

The University library has access to the Institute for
Scientific Information's U.S. University Science Indicators,
a database of summary publication and citation statistics
that reflects research performance in the sciences and
social sciences by over 100 U.S. universities.
The database is available in two versions, standard and
deluxe. In the standard version, papers are divided into 24
science and social science fields. In the deluxe version,
papers are divided into 102 fields in the sciences, social
sciences and arts and humanities corresponding to the
Institute for Scientific Information's present Current
Contents categories. The U.S. University Science Indicators
database contains counts of publications and citations taken
from the peer-reviewed journals indexed by the Institute for
Scientific Information from 1981 to 1995. The publication
and citation data reside in a database that is accessible
through a graphical user interface included with each
version. Detailed documentation on using the datasets is
also included.
U.S. University Science Indicators is available for
downloading from the library's web page (http://www.lib.
udel.edu) under the collection development section.
     The direct URL is: http://www.lib.

Access to this database is limited to UD faculty, staff
and students. Instructions for downloading and installing
the software are also available on this page.
