Conference May 3 on Delaware Kids
The annual Delaware Kids Conference will be held from 9
a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 3, at P.S. du Pont Elementary
School in Wilmington. Sponsored by the colleges of Human
Resources and Urban Affairs and Public Policy, the
conference was developed to give children in fourth through
eighth grades the opportunity to develop leadership skills
and to teach them about important issues within their
communities.
This year, the conference theme is learning about and
working with people of different ages. Activities are
designed to enhance children's abilities to be partners
across the ages and make communities better places to live,
work and learn. The conference will include activities
encouraging learning about different generations and ways to
work with, understand and communicate across generations.
Featured will be hands-on cooperative projects, discussion
groups, opportunities to meet new people and
intergenerational entertainment.
Cost of the conference is $3, and pre-registration is
encouraged by April 20. All children in grades four through
eight are invited to attend. Space is limited.
On the day of the conference, students should arrive at
8:30 a.m. for registration. Lunch will be provided.
For more information or a registration form, contact
conference organizer Katherine S. Conway-Turner, individual
and family studies, telephone 831-8544.
