HRIM sponsors wine and dinner
The Hotel, Restaurant Institutional Management 267
class in Catering Management is sponsoring a Wine Tasting
Dinner from 6:30-9 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, in
Multipurpose Room C of the Trabant University Center.
Cost of the limited seating event is $32.50 and
includes dinner and wine tasting, featuring products of the
Nassau Valley Vineyards.

Jerry, Juveniles to play at Buddy's
Jerry Beasley, English, along with the Juveniles, will
perform from 9:15 p.m.-12:45 a.m., Friday, March 14, during
oldies night at Buddy's, located at 2511 West 4th St. in
Wilmington.
Bus trip set to nation's capital
A bus trip to Washington, D.C., is scheduled on
Saturday, April 19. The bus will leave at 8 a.m. from the
Trabant University Center and depart from Washington at 8
p.m.
Cost of the open-itinerary trip is $15 for full-time
undergraduates with a UD ID. All others are $20 with a UD
ID. One guest per ID is permitted.
Seats are on sale from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Mondays
through Fridays, in Room 218 of the Trabant University
Center.
Fund raising at Oldies Weekends
The March of Dimes Oldies Weekends will be held
Saturdays, March 22 and March 29, at Clayton Hall. Doors
will open at 8 p.m., and music begins at 9 p.m.
Rock 'n' roll music will be featured by Kathie Martin &
the Hotrods on March 22 and The Hubcaps on March 29, with
'50s attire optional. Highlights of the evenings will be a
50/50 raffle, door prizes and contests.
Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased by
calling the March of Dimes at 737-1310. The Oldies Weekends
benefit the March of Dimes Campaign for Healthier Babies in
Delaware.
UD ag club to help at museum event
The UD Animal Science Club will participate in the
Delaware Museum of Natural History's "Tails from the Crib,"
a fun-filled event featuring baby animals, from 9:30 a.m.-4
p.m., Saturday, March 15, and from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.,
Sunday, March 16.
On Saturday, Annie's Menagerie, with animal mothers and
babies, many of which are native to Delaware, will be
featured. On Sunday, large and small animals will be on
hand.
In addition there will be entertainment by storyteller
Debra Pieri, and folksinger Jackie LaGuardia, plus movies,
crafts and face painting.
In connection with the museum's "Naturally Quilts," an
exhibit of quilts with a nature theme, children will help
create a paper quilt using stenciled paper squares.
The event is coordinated by the Junior League of
Wilmington Provisional Class and is sponsored in part by
Diver Chevrolet and DuPont Merck.
Tryouts set for cheerleading team
Cheerleading tryouts are scheduled at 4 p.m., Friday,
April 11, in the front gym of the Carpenter Sports Building.
The tryouts will continue through April 12 and 13, with
final cuts being announced at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, April 13.

New series on Jewish culture
The Center for Jewish Studies is sponsoring a lecture
series on Jewish American culture on selected Tuesday nights
in March, April and May.
All programs are free and open to the public and begin
at 7 p.m. in Room 204 of Kirkbride.
Upcoming talks, which began March 11, include "Emerging
Forms: Creating Contemporary Rituals Objects," with ceramic
artist Susan Felix on March 18; "Aliens in the Wasteland:
American Encounters with the Holocaust in '60s Science
Fiction Television Series," with Jeffrey Shandler, a fellow
at the Center for Judaic Studies at the University of
Pennsylvania, on April 15; "Inventing Identity in Post-War
Jewish-American Literature," with Teresa Grauer on May 6;
and "Jewish American Literature," with Jay Halio, English,
on May 13.
