                     Students to attend symposium
     
     The University will host the 1997 Delaware Junior
Science and Humanities Symposium on Thursday and Friday,
March 20-21, at Clayton Hall.
     Outstanding high school students from throughout
Delaware will give presentations or participate in poster
sessions on original research and will be judged by a panel
of University faculty.
     Codirectors of the symposium are Deborah Allen,
biology, and Karen Roth Aniunas, agricultural sciences.
Faculty judges are Jack Gelb and Lesa Griffiths, animal and
food sciences; Susan Groh, chemistry and biochemistry;
Sherry Kitto, plant and soil sciences; John McDonald,
biological sciences; and Karen Rosenberg, anthropology.
Blaine McKusick of the Delaware Academy of Natural Sciences
also will be a judge.
     Heyward Brock, arts and science, will welcome the
group, and Griffiths will make the opening address. Lt. Col.
Paul Thorson, military science, also will speak.
     Industrial tours of DuPont Ag Products, AstroPower and
Gore will be held Friday.
