UD employees at Borders Books
Three University faculty and staff will participate in
programs at Borders Books in Newark in March.
Brian McCandless, energy conversion, Michele McCandless
and Jean Rodden will present a Trikkiwikkit concert of Irish
and Celtic music for St. Patrick's Day, at 8 p.m., Monday,
March 17.
Peter Hill, music, will lead a discussion group on jazz
at 7:30 p.m., Monday, March 24.
Sheldon Pollack, accounting, will be on hand to sign
his book, Failure of U.S. Tax Policy: Revenue and Politics,
at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 27.
'Visions in Verse' at UD in March
The Professional Theatre Training Program (PTTP) is
presenting this month Visions in Verse, Passions, Ponderings
and Poetry, a spirited and lusty adventure in poetry, from
the sublime to the nonsensical in March.
Performances are continuing at 7:30 p.m. Thursday
through Saturday, March 5-8, and matinee performances will
be presented at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, March 8-
9.
From Shakespeare to Sitwell, from Tennyson to Thomas,
from Marlowe to Millay, the poems presented will examine
questions of love, loss, fate, humor, discovery, honor,
devotion and death. Sonnets, songs and journeys of the heart
combine for a truly unforgettable presentation of stories of
the soul.
Tickets for the general public are $13 for weeknights,
$14 for Friday and Saturday evenings and $11 for matinees.
Discount prices are available for UD students, faculty,

Del'Arte quintet in Loudis Hall
The Del'Arte Woodwind Quintet will present a free,
public program at 8 p.m., Thursday, March 13, in Loudis
Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.
The program will include Braintree Quintet by Gwyneth
Walker; Autumn Music for Woodwind Quintet by Jennifer Higdon
and Quartet in D flat by Anton Reicha.
The ensemble is in residence at the University and
performs in a variety of musical settings from the concert
hall to the classroom. Members include Eileen Grycky, flute;
Lloyd Shorter, oboe; Charles Salinger, clarinet; Cynthia
Carr, horn; and Jon Gaarder, bassoon.
Student leaders conference set
The second annual Delta Conference: Maximizing
Leadership Potential will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.,
Saturday, March 8, in the Trabant University Center. This
year's workshops include legal liability and risk
management, women in leadership, conflict resolution, ethics
in leadership and presenting leadership skills on resumes.
Keynote speaker will be Joseph Purzycki, Delaware '71
'77M, director of sports marketing for MBNA America. Closing
remarks will be given by Marty Friedman, director of the
Woodrow Wilson Foundation.
The conference is open to all campus student leaders.
The goal is to maximize the leadership potential of each
student. Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend,
but advance registration is required.
Sign-in begins at 9 a.m. and lunch is not included, but
it can be purchased at the center.
