                      Education institute to meet
     An information meeting on the University's first
Institute for Transforming Undergraduate Education will be
held at 3 p.m., Monday, March 10, in 209 Trabant University
Center.
     The summer institute is designed to help faculty learn
how to transform classrooms of students into communities of
learners through the use of teaching technology and active
learning techniques.
     Activities will provide hands-on experience in using
active learning strategies and technology in the classroom.
     Faculty members in all areas are encouraged to apply to
be institute fellows, but applications will be welcomed
particularly from those teaching science, mathematics and
engineering courses, especially at the introductory level;
persons teaching Arts and Science Group D general education
courses; and those teaching integrated or interdisciplinary
courses with a math, science or technology theme.
