Details, deadlines on women's research and travel awards
The Office of Women's Affairs and the Commission on the

the University community who have enhanced the life and
status of women on campus or furthered research on women.
The awards are open to women and men with the exception
of the Bessie Collins and the Mae Carter awards, which are
given to outstanding returning adult women students.
* The Student Travel Awards and Special Travel Awards
support women students, faculty and professionals
presenting scholarly papers and participating in panel
discussions at professional conferences. They also are
designed to support male students, faculty and
professionals whose presentations focus on women's
issues. The Student Travel Awards support the efforts of
graduate and undergraduate students. The maximum award is
$100. The Special Travel Awards are open to all faculty
and professionals. A maximum of $200 per person will be
awarded. Departmental matching of the funds is required,
and the application deadline for both awards is April 1.
* Contributions that promote greater equity for women at
the University are recognized by the E. Arthur Trabant
Institutional Award for Women's Equity. Examples of
contributions include developing exemplary programs or
curricula, implementing innovative policies and
procedures related to women's equity and enhancing
existing services to women at the University. Any
individual student, staff or faculty member, committee,
department, organization or administrative unit that has
promoted greater equity for women at the University can
be nominated. The deadline for nominations is March 24.
* The Student Research on Women Conference is open to all
students who have completed research on women or gender
issues. Papers are due Monday, April 7. The writer of the
winning paper in both the graduate and undergraduate
divisions receives a President's Award of $150. Proposal
abstracts should be submitted to the Women's Studies
Interdisciplinary Program office in Room 333 Smith Hall,
by 4:30 p.m., March 10.
