                     Baritone to perform in Newark

     Baritone Patrick Evans, music, will be featured in a
Department of Music recital at 8 p.m., Monday, March 4, at
the Newark United Methodist Church.
     He will joined by others from the music department-Alan
Hamant, trumpet; David Herman, organ; the Mendelssohn String
Quartet; and pianists Julie Nishimura and Michael Arenson.
     The program will feature By Footpath and Stile by
Gerald Finzi, arias from Handel's Messiah, Bach's St.
Matthew Passion, Mendelssohn's Elijah and songs of DuParc
and Cole Porter.
     Evans directs the University Chorale and is co-director
of Opera Workshop.
     He has sung the role of Adam in Haydn's Creation with
Robert Shaw, has appeared in opera, oratorio and recital
performances in the United States and abroad and is
currently involved in lecture-recital performances of The
AIDS Quilt Songbook.
