     Ph.D. candidate in history Bruce Bendler of Bear, has
received the 1997 District 10 American History Award for
$2,000 from the Delaware Society of the National Society of
Colonial Dames of America.
     Bendler, Delaware '73, '94M, is conducting research on
the late colonial and early federal period in Delaware.
