Ergonomics software available
Ergonomics is the science of arranging your workstation
to fit your body. Its goal is providing a comfortable and
relaxed posture for your body as you work.
The Department of Occupational Health and Safety has
available an instructional software program called
"ErgoSmart," an easy-to-use, self-paced program that shows
employees how to improve workstation set-up and work habits,
adjust and arrange computer workstations and perform tension-
relieving exercises.
One special feature of the program is its ability to
diagnose the specifics of workstations and recommend
solutions.
To obtain a copy, send a request via campus mail to:
Terry Lineback, Occupational Health and Safety. Include a
blank 3.5-inch, high-density diskette with each request.
Individuals also must indicate the operating system, such as
DOS, Windows or Macintosh.
Other instructional materials on computer workstation
safety are available, including instructional pamphlets and
a 20-minute videotape.
Arrangements also can be made for an on-site
workstation evaluation by an occupational health and safety
staff member.
