Faculty retreat is scheduled in June at Sandy Hill Center

The fifth annual Wakonse-East Faculty Retreat, a three-day
residential teaching conference, is scheduled from 9 a.m.,
Wednesday, June 4, through 3 p.m., Friday, June 6, at the Sandy
Hill Conference Center, near North East, Md.
The retreat is designed to create an environment where
faculty, and professionals who teach, learn about multiple
teaching models and issues, are involved in group interaction and
renewal and build a community network of teaching scholars.
The program is determined and presented by the participants,
not outside consultants. Participants are contacted by a
committee member prior to the event to discuss and plan learning
objectives.
Past retreats have included sessions on multimedia
approaches, handling large enrollment classes, syllabus design,
storytelling in the classroom and team building.
Cost is $300 per person and includes two nights lodging, all
meals, refreshment breaks, use of recreational facilities and
handout materials. A $25 nonrefundable deposit must accompany
registration, by Feb. 21. The balance must be paid by Friday,
April 11.
A journal voucher must be completed if department funds are
being used.
Enrollment is limited to 32 persons. Priority is given to
full-time teachers.
Single session or one-day participation is usually not
available.
