SERVICE
     
     Ulrich C. Toensmeyer, food and resource economics, was
elected president of the Food Distribution Research Society, a
national organization composed of university, industry and
government employees that seeks to identify research needs.
     David L. Ames, urban affairs and public policy, is
chairperson of the National Council for Preservation Education,
an organization of all college-level historic preservation
programs in the U.S.
     Kent S. Price, marine studies, has been reelected
chairperson of the board of the Delaware Center for the Inland
Bays, a non-profit center established by the General Assembly in
1994 to oversee the implementation of a long-term approach for
the wise use of Rehoboth, Indian River and Little Assawoman bays.
     Vic Klemas, marine studies, headed the wetland panel at the
EPA/NASA workshop on water monitoring, remote sensing and
advanced technologies, Dec. 11-12, Washington, D.C.
     Robert A. Dalrymple, Edward C. Davis Professor of Civil and
Environmental Engineering, is chairperson of a newly appointed
committee of the Marine Board, National Research Council, with
the charge of examining the role of coastal engineers in society
and their research and educational needs for the future.
