PTTP presents 'Henry VI' in its entirety
The University's Professional Theatre Training Program
will offer a rare chance to see Shakespeare's Henry VI in
its entirety in three shows planned for January through May.
Audience members can follow this gripping human saga of
a country torn apart, burning ambition, cowardice, honor and
civil unrest that culminates in the War of the Roses.
Performances include Henry VI, Part One, scheduled from Jan.
30-March 22; Henry VI, Part Two, to be staged from April 18-
May 9; and Henry VI, Part Three, to be presented April 24-
May 8.
These performances round out PTTP's spring semester
offerings, which also will include Tuesday, scheduled from
Feb. 20-23, Oedipus Rex, to be performed Feb. 27-March 2,
and Visions in Verse, scheduled from March 5-9.
All performances will be held in Hartshorn Hall.
Tickets for all shows range from $11 to $14 for the general
public, $9 to $12 for UD faculty, staff and senior citizens,
and $4 to $8 for students.
In Part One, Henry the boy king is faced with scheming
uncles, suspicious lords, French territories in revolt and
civil unrest. While the House of Lancaster and the House of
York struggle for future control of England, the visionary
shepherd maid, Joan of Arc, guides the French into
successful battle to reclaim their land from the English It
is a fierce and blood-thirsty conflict between the countries
and countrymen, featuring villians such as the wicked
Richard III.
Performances of Part One are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on
Thursday, Jan. 30; Friday, Jan. 31; Saturday, Feb. 1;
Sunday, Feb. 2; Thursday, March 13; Friday, March 14;
Saturday, March 15; and Saturday, March 22. Matinee
performances are scheduled at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb.
1; Sunday, Feb. 2; Sunday, March 16; and Saturday, March 22.
