Meeting tonight about SMART
The Delaware Undergraduate Student Congress (DUSC) will hold
a meeting at 7:30 tonight in Room 206 of the Trabant University
Center.
The question-and-answer session for Newark residents and
students will focus on the Student Mediation Action and Response
Team-SMART- which uses mediation as a means of easing tension
between off-campus students and Newark residents.

Deltones set to perform Dec. 6
The Deltones, a coed a cappella group at the University,
will present its annual holiday concert at 8 p.m., Friday, Dec.
6, in the Trabant University Center Theatre.
The group will perform a variety of songs, including
traditional and nontraditional tunes from the different holidays
that make up the December holiday season. Popular songs from
contemporary artists such as Depeche Mode and George Michael also
will be included. In addition, the concert will include skits and
a surprise guest a cappella group.
Admission is $5 for students and $7 for the general public.

Join dancers in the Macarena
Members of the University community are invited to help set
a campus record by dancing the Macarena at 10 p.m., Saturday,
Dec. 14, in the Carpenter Sports Building.
The event, sponsored by the University Ballroom Dance Club,
is free for students and staff with UD ID and $2 for guests.

Formal holiday dance set Dec. 13
A formal holiday dance, sponsored by the Ballroom Dance
Club, will be held from 8:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 13,
in Pearson Hall Gymnasium.
A light dinner is included. Cost is $5 for full-time
students and $10 for others.

Give mittens, hat and skate for free
Skaters will receive free admission to any public skating
session at the UD's ice arena with the donation of a pair of
mittens or a hat through Dec. 22. Collected items will go to
Emmaus House in Newark and Mother Mary of Hope House in
Wilmington.
Public skating sessions are held on Friday and Saturday
nights from 8-10 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-3 p.m.
Later in December additional public skating sessions are
planned. From Dec. 23-30, sessions are scheduled from 1-3 p.m.
and from 8-10 p.m., with the exception of Dec. 25 when the arena
will be closed. New Year's Eve hours on Dec. 31 will be from 1-3
p.m. and from 6-8 p.m.
The arena will be celebrating the holiday season on Dec. 15
when Santa will skate with the ice arena's patrons from 1-3 p.m.
There will be prizes and fun for all ages.
Soloist plays with Wind Ensemble
Kimberly Reighley will perform Vivaldi's Concerto in C Major
for Piccolo with the UD Wind Ensemble, directed by Robert
Streckfuss, during a free public concert at 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec.
8, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music
Building.
The soloist is a 1996 Delaware Division of the Arts Artist
Fellow and piccoloist with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and
Reading Symphony.
She also is principal flutist with OperaDelaware and
frequently appears as a substitute with the Philadelphia
Orchestra.
The UD Wind Ensemble also will play Symphony No. 3,
'Slavanskay' by Boris Kozhenikov; Variations on 'Mein junges
Leben hat ein End' by Jan Sweelinck; Lande by Howard Hanson; and
works by Mark Camphouse, Jack Gallahger and Michael Hennagin.
Reighley's appearance is partially funded by the UD Faculty
Senate Committee on Cultural Activities and Public Events and by
the Office of Women's Affairs.
Lights ceremony in Trabant Center
An Interfaith Celebration of Lights will be held at 7 p.m.,
Wednesday, Dec. 11, in the Multipurpose Room of the Trabant
University Center to celebrate the religious and cultural
traditions of a number of diverse groups on the University
campus.
The free program is sponsored by the Religious Concerns
Caucus of the Commission to Promote Racial and Cultural
Diversity.
Artist's works in Clayton exhibit
An exhibit recounting the creative career of local artist
Pamela Skwish, from 1970 to 1996, will be on display through Feb.
1 in the lobby gallery of Clayton Hall. A reception, free and
open to the public, will be held from 7-9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13.
Skwish employs many different media, such as oil, acrylics,
pastels and pencil. Recently, she has explored the possibilities
of transfer and emulsion prints on paper in a series of works.
The Clayton Hall gallery is open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Mondays

Holiday stories at staff luncheon
"Stories for the Holidays" is the theme of the program for
the University Staff Association's December luncheon, scheduled
at noon, Thursday, Dec. 19, in the Center for Composite Materials
Conference Room.
The storyteller, Ed Okonowicz, public relations, is donating
a free copy of one of his books for a holiday raffle. A book
signing, sponsored by the University Bookstore, will follow the
program.
