'Carols in Color' dance program

The Eleone Dance Troupe of Philadelphia will present "Carols
in Color," a holiday dance production, at 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6,
in Mitchell Hall.
The cross-cultural, nondenominational production has been
presented annually in Philadelphia since 1992 as an alternative
to the traditional Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol.
"Carols in Color" is based on Langston Hughes' Black
Nativity and a musical adaptation by Vinette Carrol written in
the 1960s. "Carols" presents a more contemporary version and is a
true celebration of American dance.
Blending the beauty of scripture and song with the American
modern dance movement, the spiritual whirlwind includes "Go Tell
It On the Mountain," "O Come All Ye Faithful," "The First Noel,"
"We Three Kings" and a Motown version of "Silent Night."
Advanced tickets are $7 for University of Delaware students,
$12 for senior citizens and UD faculty and staff and $15 for the
general public. Tickets at the door will be $20. Tickets are
available at all UD box offices and at the Christina Cultural
Arts Center in Wilmington.
The performance is sponsored by the UD Center for Black
Culture and the Christina Cultural Arts Center.
