Library Assn. elects new officers at board meeting

     The University of Delaware Library Associates elected
officers Nov. 12 at the annual meeting of the Board of Directors.
     The 1997 officers are:
       President John B. Tepe, corporate counsel, DuPont Co.;
       Senior Vice President Wilson J. C. Braun Jr., vice
  president, J. P. Morgan Delaware;
       Vice President Jean B. Blythe, Wilmington Capital
  Management Inc.;
       Treasurer Michael Olin Clark, vice president, Del-
  Vest/Bank of Delaware, CoreStates Financial Corp.;
       Secretary J. A. Leo Lemay, Winterthur Professor of
  English, UD; and
       Assistant Secretary/Treasurer Susan Brynteson, director
  of libraries, UD.
     Elected as new members of the board are: the Hon. Helen
Balick and Robert H. Richards III, for terms from Jan. 1, 1997,
to Dec. 31, 1999, and Joseph P. Melloy Sr., for a term from Jan.
1 to Dec. 31, 1997.
     Founded in 1958, the Library Associates Inc. works to expand
and enrich the research collections of the UD Library through
gifts from individual members, funds raised by the Library
Associates' programs and donations of significant books.
     Each year, the Library Associates assists financially with
the acquisition of rare library materials, sponsors an exhibition
opening reception and an exhibition publication to promote
Special Collections, supports a June lecture program in the
Morris Library, featuring the research of a University faculty
member, and sponsors an annual dinner that includes a
presentation by an author of regional or national acclaim.
     Members also receive a semiannual Newsletter of the
University of Delaware Library Associates and a journal, called
Collections, which is published on an occasional basis.
