Talk on zoological exhibitions

Kathleen F. Wagner, senior vice president of education at
the Philadelphia Zoological Garden, will discuss "From Frogs to
Focus Groups: Creating New Exhibits at the Philadelphia Zoo" at 3
p.m., Friday, Nov. 15, in 202 Old College.
Wagner has been active in education for more than 25 years,
and her experience includes educational evaluation and research,
strategic planning and management training.
In 1976, she co-founded the education department of the
Philadelphia Zoo with a staff of one and a half. Since then, the
department has grown to include 21 full-time staff and 25 part-
time instructors.
The zoo's education department has been recognized twice for
excellence in programming by the American Association of Zoos and
Aquariums and has received awards for contributions to science
education from the Dairy Council Inc. and the Philadelphia
Travelers' Aid Society.
Wagner has consulted with zoos in Boston and Kansas City and
with the New Jersey State Aquarium in Camden. As liaison with the
exhibit design consultants and architects at the aquarium, she
managed the design, production and installation of all
educational graphics and interactive exhibits.
Her free public talk is part of the Museum Studies Program
fall forum lecture series and is partially funded by the Faculty
Senate Committee on Cultural Activities and Public Events.
