Skaters serve as mentors southern Delaware

     The University's collegiate club team and youth travel teams
have more in common than sharing the ice at the Blue Hen Classic
Tournament.
     Some members of the UD club team act as mentors to one of
the Junior Blue Hen team members, and some of the club team
members attend the practices of the travel team, attend games and
act as role models to the younger skaters.
     "The kids think its the greatest thing in the world when
college players show an interest in their team," Dan Blevins,
director of the youth hockey program, said. "The college players
like to give back to the youth teams because that's where they
started themselves," he added.
