Delaware theatregoers may have noticed a familiar face

Nov. 6. Brian G. Kurlander, a member of the Professional Theatre
Training Program's Class of 1995, was pictured with the praise-
filled review of his latest endeavor, a production of
Shakespeare's Cymbeline at the Pearl Theatre in New York City.
Kurlander plays the scheming Iachimo in the production,
which also has won a positive review from Clive Barnes in the New
York Post.
For Kurlander, the good notices are especially sweet,
because he stepped into the difficult role only six days before
it opened to a preview audience. "One of the major reasons I was
able to take on this role and perform it in such a short time was
due to the excellent training I received at the University of
Delaware Professional Theatre Training Program," he said.
At Delaware, Kurlander appeared as Orlando in As You Like
It, Gerry in Dancing at Lughnasa, Albert in Play the Palace, as
well as roles in The Insect Comedy, Heartbreak House and The
Learned Ladies.
Since his graduation, he has been working steadily in
professional theatre: He was Ariel in The Tempest at the Utah
Shakespeare Festival, Philip in You Never Can Tell at the Denver
Arts Center and Romeo in Romeo and Juliet at the Alabama
Shakespeare Festival.
Cymbeline runs through Nov. 30.
