Piano trio performance on Nov. 16 in Mitchell Hall
Engaging, lively, blended and warm are the words often used to
describe the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, which will perform at 8
p.m., Thursday, Nov. 16, in Mitchell Hall.
The three virtuosos-Joseph Kalichstein, piano; Jaime Laredo,
violin; and Sharon Robinson, cello-tour annually in the United States
and Europe and appear regularly in the world's premier concert halls.
A critic in The New York Times has described the trio as "one of
the best blended, most sensitive and intelligent piano trios in the
world today."
A Los Angeles Times reviewer wrote, "The accomplishments of the
Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson ensemble begin with the three virtuosos
themselves and their unflappable musicality, supreme technical
achievements and sensitive teamwork."
Among the trio's acclaimed recordings is a compact disc of
Beethoven's 'Archduke' Trio and 'Kakadu' Variations, on the MCA
Classics label. The group's performance of Beethoven's 'Triple'
Concert with the English Chamber Orchestra, on the Chandros label, has
been hailed by Gramophone magazine as one of the best recordings of
that work.
Tickets-at $10 for UD faculty and staff, $6 for students and $15
for the general public-are on sale now at the Hartshorn box office.
The concert is part of the University's Performing Arts Series.
