Pre-game pep rally, bonfire spark Homecoming '95

     A pre-game pep rally and bonfire will spark the festivities
planned for Homecoming '95 weekend at the University of Delaware, as
UD students past and present join in a variety of activities to
celebrate their alma mater.
     The activity will be non-stop, starting Friday, Oct. 13, with the
MBNA Blue Hen Celebrity Golf Classic and continuing that afternoon
with the Harrington Beach Carnival, followed by the bonfire and pep
rally. Special events for alumni also will take place in the evening,
including a Rock 'n' Roll & Remember Concert, featuring the Coasters,
The Drifters and Martha Reeves & the Vandellas.
     Saturday's events will get off to an early start with the
traditional Homecoming 5K campus run/walk and alumni and faculty 5K
off-campus run. Other morning events include the Deutsches Haus 25th
anniversary celebration, tours of the new chemistry complex and the
College of Business and Economics Alumni Award for Excellence
ceremony.
     Tailgates and reunions will mark pre-game socializing before fans
jam Delaware Stadium to cheer on the Fightin' Blue Hens as they take
on the University of Richmond Spiders.
     Post-game events include the Homecoming Goalpost Party and other
activities, including Midnight Madness, when the basketball season
"officially" begins and the men's and women's teams take to the courts
at the Bob Carpenter Center.
     Below is the schedule for Homecoming '95 events.


Friday, Oct. 13
   * MBNA Blue Hen Celebrity Golf Classic at DuPont, Deerfield and
     Brandywine country clubs. For reservations and information, call

   * Carnival at Harrington Beach, 2-5 p.m.
   * Pep rally and bonfire, Harrington Beach 5-6 p.m.
   * Alumni reception with musical entertainment, hors d'oeuvres and a
     cash bar, Mall near Memorial Hall, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
   * Rock 'n' Roll & Remember Concert, featuring The Coasters, The
     Drifters and Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, 8-11 p.m., Bob
     Carpenter Center. Tickets are $13 in advance and $15 at the door.

Saturday, Oct. 14

Pre-game events
   * Deutsches Haus 25th anniversary celebration. For information,

   * Campus run around. 5th annual Homecoming 5K run/walk, begins at
     9:30 a.m. on Kent Way, in front of the Blue and Gold Club.
     Registration in advance and on the day of the race. For

   * Alumni and faculty 5K off-campus run, 9:30 a.m., White Clay Creek
     State Park, followed by varsity's men and women's cross-country
     meet, 10:30 a.m. For information, call 831-8846.
   * Tours of new chemistry complex, leaving from the foyer of Brown
     Laboratory, 10 a.m.-noon.
   * College of Business and Economics Alumni Award of Excellence
     ceremony, 10 a.m., 101B Clayton Hall. For information, call 831-

Tailgates, reunion tents
   * Welcome Alumni Tent, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. For information, call 831-
     2341.
   * College of Arts and Science Welcome Back Tent, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
     Members of the Alumni Marching Band and faculty from several
     departments will be present.
   * Black Alumni Organization Homecoming tailgate, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. For
     information, contact Oliver Parker at 422-8795. For information
     on African-American festivities, contact the Center for Black
     Culture at 831-2991.
   * College of Business and Economics tailgate, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. B&E
     Alumni Association has reserved a block of seats, and reserved

   * SOS Alumni 20th anniversary tailgate. For information about this

Game time
   * Homecoming football game against University of Richmond, 1 p.m.
     kickoff, Delaware Stadium. Halftime announcement of winners of
     Homecoming banner competition and T. Muncy Keith Award.
     Individual game tickets are available at the Bob Carpenter Center
     and Perkins Student Center box offices or through TicketMaster at
     984-2000.

Post-game events
   * Homecoming Goalpost Party, immediately after football game, tent
     behind Delaware Field House.
   * 20th annual alumni student trainer reunion, one half-hour after
     football game, Bob Carpenter Center Training Room. For
     information, call 831-2287.
   * Women's volleyball against Hofstra, 6 p.m., Bob Carpenter Center.
   * Midnight Madness, the "official" start of Blue Hen basketball, 11
     p.m., with men and women's teams on the courts at midnight,
     Acierno Arena, Bob Carpenter Center.


Sunday, Oct. 15
   * Women's field hockey alumni game, noon, Delaware Field. For

   * Women's soccer against Towson State, 1 p.m., behind Delaware
