Especially for children
For the first time, the Performing Arts Series has been expanded
with a range of activities so that children can enjoy the lively arts
on stage and on screen as well. The Junior Series, as it is being
called, is for families to enjoy together.
"We have selected plays, films and activities for entire families
to enjoy at a reasonable cost, and subscribers can choose which events
they wish to attend. There is limited seating, and seats are reserved
so we suggest making reservations for the season early," according to
Christine Cook, assistant director of University relations, who
coordinates both series.
The 1996-97 Junior Series includes live stage performances of the
children's classics The Velveteen Rabbit and Curious George, as well
as six films and some special related activities.
Stage productions, both scheduled in Mitchell Hall, will be
presented of The Velveteen Rabbit at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 29, and
Curious George, at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 26. Admission for each show
is $10 for the general public, $8 UD faculty, staff and alumni and $5
for students and children. A special luncheon is available at the Blue
& Gold Club at 12:30 p.m. for The Velveteen Rabbit, and the cost of
lunch and play is $20 for the general public, $18 for faculty, staff
and alumni, $15 for students and children 12 and over and $10 for
students and children ages 5 through 11 (children under 5 eat free).
Six films will be presented on weekends throughout the year in
the theatre of the Trabant University Center.

Wilbur, 1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 27, followed by a special tour
