     Independence Day, July 4, marks the official birthday of the
United States of America. University offices will be closed on
Thursday as communities observe the national holiday. Information on
the city of Newark fireworks celebration, which will take place July 4
on the practice field beside Delaware Stadium, is on page 4, in the
"Up and coming" section of UpDate.
