Callahan new associate dean

     Raymond Callahan, history, has been appointed associate dean for
outreach in the College of Arts and Science, effective July 1,
according to Dean Mary Richards.
     Callahan will continue to have administrative responsibility for
the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) Program and outreach
programs in the college. In addition, he will administer the
University/ Delaware Tech Parallel Program, serving more than 1,000
students on three campuses. He also will oversee all off-campus
baccalaureate programs in southern Delaware.
     A military historian, Callahan joined the UD faculty in 1967,
upon completion of his doctorate at Harvard University, where he held
Wilson, Knox and Danforth fellowships.
     At the University, Callahan was appointed director of the MALS
Program when it began in 1988. He received an excellence-in-teaching
award in 1990, and he assumed the role of coordinator of college
outreach in 1992.
     The author of four books, Callahan has contributed numerous
chapters to other collections, has published widely in scholarly
journals and lectured extensively in this country and abroad.
