New rental policy established
Students have top priority when reserving meeting space in the
recently opened Trabant University Center, and the same will be true
for the Perkins Student Center when it reopens in early 1997 after
extensive renovations.
Student fees support these facilities, Marilyn Prime, director of
student centers, explained, and "that student support is recognized by
giving students first priority for reservations and by charging user
fees to non-student groups."
A new policy established for renting space in the centers, Prime
said, provides that, when not being used by student groups, rooms can
be rented for a fee by UD academic and administrative units. During
periods of low University use, the rooms also will be offered for
rental to external groups.
The rental fees charged UD units will be significantly lower than
those charged to external organizations, Prime said.
Rental income will be used to offset building and operating
costs, she said. Specifics on the use of campus facilities will be
distributed this fall.
