Mini-convocation held in Kansas

On Friday evening, while soon-to-be University of Delaware
graduates were preparing for Saturday's Commencement on May 25, a mini-
convocation was taking place in Kansas, honoring two graduates from
the Center for Historic Architecture and Engineering.
Commencement weekend and the annual conference of the Vernacular
Architectural Forum, the professional organization for the center's
staff and students, fell on the same dates. However, center faculty
and staff, including David Ames, Bernie Herman, Ritchie Garrison and
Rebecca Siders, joined with alumni and students at the conference to
celebrate Kirk Ranzetta and Deidre McCarthy's graduation with a
convocation dinner. To mark the occasion, programs from the Newark
convocation of the College of Urban Affairs and Public Policy were
brought along, and 28 persons with UD connections were present.
According to Ames, the University was well-represented at the
conference, with three of the seven attending students presenting
refereed papers and winning awards. Delaware tied the host school, the
University of Kansas, for the most students at the conference, and
tied the University of California at Berkeley for the most student
papers presented.
