Like father, like son
Two generations of the Reuter family received bachelor's degrees.
Father Kenneth J. Reuter of Dover was awarded a bachelor of science
degree from the College of Business and Economics, while his son,
Kenneth C. Reuter of Wilmington, received a bachelor of arts degree in
psychology. The senior Reuter decided to finish a degree he began in
1968, after his daughter, Wendy, graduated in nursing from the
University in 1994.
He took a year's sabbatical from his job as vice president of
sales of Frametome, a French nuclear engineering and construction
company, and attended every session available for a little over a
year, taking more than 50 credit hours.
Would he do it again? "Absolutely," Reuter said. "It was a
fabulous experience; the staff was helpful; professors were
outstanding and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable in
the classroom again."
Originally, Kenneth said he would sit in the stands with other
parents for Commencement, but his son would not hear of it, so the two
marched together into the stadium.
