Board of Trustees approves 46 faculty promotions
The Board of Trustees approved the promotion and tenure of 46
faculty members at its regular semiannual meeting.
Fifteen faculty members were promoted to full professor:
College of Agricultural Sciences-Robin W. Morgan, animal and
food sciences;
College of Arts and Science-R. John Brockmann and M. Jean
Pfaelzer, both English; Catherine Fitzmaurice, theatre;
Murray V. Johnston III, chemistry and biochemistry; Steven
E. Sidebotham, history; and Joyce Hill Stoner, art
conservation;
College of Education-Carol J. Vukelich, educational
development;
College of Engineering-Steven K. Dentel, civil and
environmental engineering; and Henry C. Foley, Abraham M.
Lenhoff and Andrew L. Zydney, all chemical engineering;
College of Human Resources-Mary Jo Kallal, textiles, design and
consumer economics; and Connie E. Vickery, nutrition and
dietetics;. and
Parallel Program, Georgetown- Lawrence A. Curtis.
Twenty-five faculty members were promoted to the rank of
associate professor, with tenure:
College of Arts and Science-LuAnn DeCunzo and Thomas Rocek,
both anthropology; Mary Dozier, psychology; Alan D. Fox and
Jeffrey J. Jordan, both philosophy; Susan Goodman and Ben
Yagoda, English; Wenbo Li and Shang You Zhang, mathematical
sciences; Raelene Maser, medical technology; and Mark W.
McLeod, history;
College of Business and Economics-Stacie Beck and Toni M.
Whited, both economics;
College of Education-Douglas A. Archbald, Barbara K. Curry,
Zoubeida R. Dagher and Mary F. Roe, all educational
development;
College of Engineering-Michael J. Chajes, Ardeshir Faghri and
Victor Kaliakin, all civil and environmental engineering;
College of Marine Studies-Mohsen Badiey;
College of Nursing-Linda Bucher and Julie K. Waterhouse; and
College of Physical Education, Athletics and Recreation-Avron
Abraham and Michelle Provost-Craig, both physical education.
Three assistant professors were promoted to associate professor,
without tenure: Jean A. Bohner, Alan M. Horowitz and Michael
Rosenberg, all in the Parallel Program, Wilmington; and Martin J.
Postle in art history.
Promoted from instructor to assistant professor were Margaret P.
Hassert, English, and Gail Holland Wade, nursing.
Paul LeMahieu, associate professor of educational studies, was
granted tenure.
All appointments are effective Sept. 1.
