Management firm sought

The University will request proposals this summer from private
firms specializing in college stores to manage the University
Bookstore and Campus Shop. Industry leaders, such as Barnes & Noble
College Stores and Follett College Stores, will be invited to submit
proposals.
A meeting was held with all University Bookstore staff on May 15
to announce the decision to request proposals and to answer questions.
Current professional and salaried staff will be offered positions with
the selected firm or they may choose to remain on the University
payroll with the continuation of all benefits.
All University Bookstore services will continue through the
summer without disruption. The final phase of renovations in the main
store in the Perkins Student Center is proceeding as planned and will
be completed in August.
A Request for Proposal review committee of faculty, students and
staff will meet throughout the summer. The University expects to
identify a management firm to assume responsibility for operations in
the fall.
