Henri and Rhoda Sue Bertuch establish scholarship
A $100,000 gift from Henri L. Bertuch, Delaware '54, and his
wife, Rhoda Sue, Delaware '56, will assist undergraduates and the
building fund in the College of Business and Economics.
The couple contributed $50,000 to establish the Rhoda Sue and
Henri L. Bertuch Undergraduate Student Scholarship Fund for out-of-
state students who show academic promise and financial need. The other
$50,000 has been allocated for the renovation of Purnell Hall and the
college's new addition, MBNA America Hall.
The Bertuch scholarships will be awarded to freshmen and can be
renewed each year until graduation.
Previously, the couple donated $53,000 to the University to
establish Bertuch fellowships for MBA students.
"The Bertuchs' continuing generosity and Henri Bertuch's
participation on the visiting committee have contributed greatly to
the growth of the college," Dean Kenneth Biederman said. "The
establishment of the scholarship fund will enable us to attract high-
caliber students, as have the Bertuch fellowships, and the gift to the
building fund will help us achieve our goal of creating a state-of-the-
art facility for the college."
Henri Bertuch chairs the college's visiting committee. He is the
founder and chairperson of DVC Industries, Long Island, N.Y.
