Gov. Carper to discuss schools
Del. Gov. Thomas R. Carper, Delaware '75M, will discuss his
education agenda for Delaware schools at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, in
Room 007 of the Willard Hall Education Building.
The governor will highlight such major issues as school safety,
discipline, parental involvement, school choice and tax dollars for
charter schools.
The Carper administration has supported the New Directions
educational reform begun in 1992 during the administration of Michael
N. Castle. That initiative laid out curricular frameworks for many
school subjects and setting objectives for students. New Directions

those goals. The governor also will discuss if scores should be used
to hold students and teachers accountable for their performance.

Education.
