1996 Public Policy Institute to focus on community concerns
The National Issues Forum will sponsor a 1996 Public Policy
Institute at the University from Wednesday through Friday, May 29-31,
and a special community forum that Wednesday evening.
Persons interested in a dynamic way to conduct policy discussions
are encouraged to attend the institute which will focus on skills to
help community groups work together on issues of common concern and
explore the dynamics of citizen participation in policy making.
Continuing education units can be awarded for participation.
Topics for discussion include "Pocketbook Pressures: Who Benefits
from Economic Growth?," "What is Politics?," "Community Forum
Development," "Honing Your Moderator Skills" and "Issue Framing."
The institute will take place at the Cooperative Extension
Service Office, 910 South Chapel St., Newark. Cost is $95, and
scholarships are available. Call Mica Corradin at 831-8838 for more

Topic of the free, public community forum on Wednesday, May 29,
is "The Troubled American Family: Which Way Out of the Storm?" It is
not necessary to be registered for the institute to attend the forum.
The forum will be from 7-9 p.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Church,
1108 North Adams St., Wilmington. Call Maria Pippidis at 831-1239 for

The National Issues Forum is a nationwide project to stimulate
and sustain public dialog on current vital issues. A network of more
than 5,000 civic and educational groups use the discussion process to
work toward mutually acceptable solutions to public concerns.
