New Medical Offerings ALERT for Employees and Spouses Who Both Work at UD
Are you and your spouse both permanent full-time active state or
University employees or retirees? If so, under the state's Double
State Share provision, you have a choice in how you enroll:
* The husband and wife and all eligible dependents may enroll in
one Family or one Employee and Spouse contract or
* Each employee or retiree may enroll under a separate contract
(Employee Only or Employee and Children). Eligible dependents may
be enrolled under either contract, but no dependent can be
enrolled more than once under the state Health Insurance Program.
Under this provision, employees make no monthly contribution unless
the cost of the options they select exceeds $1,050.08 (the cost of two
BCBSD Basic Family contracts).
These options offer more flexibility to employees and spouses who both
work for the University of Delaware and/or state agencies. As long as
the combination of coverages does not total more than the cost of two
family basic plans, employees qualify for the double share. At this
year's rates, full-time employees who qualify will have no deductions.
Please review the 1996-97 rate sheets and coverage examples for more
details or call the Benefits Office (831-2913) for clarification on
these new offerings.
