Delaware equestrians qualify for nationals
The Delaware Equestrian Team won the regional championship for
the second consecutive year and came in second in the zone
competition, qualifying for the Intercollegiate Horse Show
Association's national competition, May 3-5, in Los Angeles.
Eight riders will represent the team and compete in different
divisions, ranging from beginner to advanced equitation classes, both
"on the flat" and over fences.
The riders are senior Jen Midiria (open flat), junior Kimberly
Fenn (open fences), sophomore Dale Nepert (intermediate flat), junior
Jen Edling (intermediate fences), freshman Cheryl Pierce (novice
flat), freshman Sara Ralston (novice fences), junior Susan Love
(walk/trot/canter) and senior Anita West (walk/trot).
The Delaware Equestrian Team was selected for the Sportsmanship
Award at the regional competition in Horsham, Pa., April 13, and Karen
Ralph (intermediate fences), Nepert (novice fences) and Penny Powers
(walk/trot) were regional champions.
At the zone competition held last weekend on Long Island, N.Y.,
Fenn and Nepert were zone champions.
The club team has 50 members.
