Association election
     The election of officers of the University Staff Association will
be held between May 1-15. At this time, nominations are being accepted
for the offices of president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.
     Self nominations are acceptable. Those who wish to nominate
others are asked to verify that person's interest in serving before
making the nomination.

Volleyball tourney
     A Volleyball Philanthropy Tournament will be held at 8 a.m.,
Saturday, April 27, on Harrington Beach to benefit the Chaim Sheba
Medical Center. Cost is $18 per each 6-person team.


Traffic alert
     The Newark Citizens Against Traffic (CAT) will hold its second
annual barbecue fundraiser, beginning at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 27,
in the backyard of 176 West Main St.
     Boss Hog Inc. will prepare North Carolina-style chicken barbecue
and will roast a pig on location.
     C.A.T. is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the
quality of life in Newark by diverting interstate truck and commuter
traffic around the city.

Flyin' the Coop
     A senior sendoff celebration will be held from 3-6 p.m., Friday,
May 10, on the lawn of Old College. Flyin' the Coop will feature food,
fun and entertainment.
     The free, public event is sponsored by the Office of Alumni and
University Relations and the senior class officers.

CPR course
     A CPR instructors course will be held from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.,
Saturday, May 4, in 220 Smith Hall.
     Candidates must bring a copy of their current health-care
provider card to the class. Those who complete the training will
receive an American Heart Association instructor's card.
     Class size is limited to 12 persons. Cost is $35, and pre-
registration is required. To register by the April 26 deadline, call
831-8475.


Cooking class
     Blue & Gold Club chef Daniel Beggs will direct a cooking class
from 5-9 p.m., Monday, April 22, at the club. After preparing the four-
course dinner, participants will have the opportunity to dine and
enjoy their creations.
     Cost is $25 per person. A 12 percent service charge is included.

Ag Day Saturday
     Ag Day, and annual festival of agricultural education and fun,
will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, April 20, rain or shine,
on the grounds of Townsend Hall.
     The event will include a petting zoo, plant sales, farm tours,
wildlife trails, a pet show, food and exhibits.
     The free, public event is ideal for families and small children.

Coast Day Oct. 6
     Coast Day 1996 is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Hugh R.
Sharp Campus in Lewes. The annual event, sponsored by the College of
Marine Studies and the Sea Grant College Program, attracts more than
10,000 visitors to the educational and informative exhibitions that
celebrate the area's marine life, research and recreation.
