Delaware Stadium site of '96 March of Dimes WalkAmerica

As in years past, the University of Delaware Stadium will be the
starting point for the 1996 March of Dimes WalkAmerica, an annual 15K
(9-mile) fundraising event that involves individual participants and
teams with members from organizations and businesses.
This year's event will step off at 9 a.m., Sunday, April 28.
Check-in begins at 8 a.m., and YoUDee, the Fightin' Blue Hen mascot,
will be on hand to help send off the walkers.
In 1995, the UD team consisted of 60 walkers who raised $2,379 of
last year's total contribution of $134,000 to the March of Dimes
Delaware State/Upper Shore of Maryland chapter. The 1996 goal is
$138,000.
According to recent statistics, Delaware no longer is considered
the number one state in the number of infant deaths, but it still
ranks in the top 10.
A limited number of "YoUDee Struts for March of Dimes" T-shirts
are available to UD walkers, with 50 to be given to the first members
of the campus community who register for WalkAmerica.
Registration cards are available at the Perkins Student Center
main desk, in the Student Services Building, Delaware Field House,
University Bookstore, Carpenter Sports Building and at all UD fitness
centers. They also are available by calling 831-6651.
The Delaware March of Dimes is offering a special T-shirt to
everyone who raises and turns in at least $75 on or before the day of
WalkAmerica.
     At 8:15 a.m., April 28, before the step-off, the 1996 T-shirt
contest will be held. Organizations and businesses that have designed
their own T-shirts for their employees to wear during the march will
compete. The "YoUDee Struts for March of Dimes" is one of the entries.

the front of the Morris Library and no registration is necessary.
