Correct door mullion installation

A mullion, the metal device used where double doors are
installed, is attached to the door frame at the ceiling and to a steel
plate in the floor. The doors close by latching to this device. When
properly installed, the mullion is secured at the top and bottom.
University policy mandates that University Lock and Hardware
Services personnel are the ONLY authorized individuals to remove or
install door mullions.
Given a recent incident, where a mullion was not properly
installed and fell, area and building safety committees are encouraged
to add these devices to their facility inspection lists to help reduce
the possibility of danger.

and Safety at 831-8475 or University Lock and Hardware Services at 831-
