Talk on 'library as laboratory'
Charles E. Robinson, professor of English, will present a lecture
entitled " The Library as a Laboratory: Preparing an edition of Mary
Shelley's Frankenstein Notebooks" from noon-1 p.m., Thursday, April 25
in the Class of 1941 Lecture Room located in the Morris Library.
Robinson will be discussing his new "diplomatic" edition of the
never before published manuscripts of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
These manuscripts reveal not only how Shelley went about creating her
novel but also how her husband Percy Bysshe Shelley was involved in
the creative process. Robinson has been filmed at work on these
manuscripts by the BBC Open University for a program to air in England
this spring.
Robinson's lecture is sponsored by The University of Delaware
Library Assembly of Professional Staff (UDLAPS) as part of "The
Scholar and the Library: Recent Research in the Humanities and Social
Sciences" lecture series.
The presentation is open to the University community and brown
bag lunches are welcome.
