'Label-Ease' winners announced
There was lots of positive feedback on the "Label-Ease" program,
offered by the Employee Wellness Center during National Nutrition
Month, according to Marianne Carter, program coordinator.
Participants learned a system of evaluating a food's nutritional
worth using the fingers of one hand. Then they were quizzed and went
on a nutrition scavenger hunt, which involved a trip to the grocery
store to look at select food labels.
Six nutrition-wise winners, among those who completed the quiz by
March 29, were selected to receive certificates for lunch for two,
donated by area restaurants. They were Bee Brannon, continuing
education, Mirage; Sandy Grim, nursing, Air Transport Command; Donna
Higgins, financial aid, T'Adelphia Restaurant; Gladys McCarthy,
research office, Constantinou's House of Beef; Don Redmond, employee
relations, Lone Star Steakhouse; and Anita Wellner, library, Michael's
Family Restaurant.
