AWARDS

     A research article on chemical cues that stimulate egg laying by
     the European corn borer by Charles E. Mason, entomology and
     applied ecology, and former postdoctoral fellow Sujaya Udayagiri,
     was one of 10 noteworthy paper featured in the American
     Entomologist, chosen from works published in entomological
     journals around the world. The paper was originally published in
     The Netherlands journal Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata.

     David M. Stone, art history, received an Andrew W. Mellon Senior
     Fellowship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City,
     Department of European Painting, for research on Caravaggio and
     Guercino.

SERVICE

     A. Julian Valbuena, Elias Ahuja Professor of Spanish, has been
     appointed to the editorial board for the CD-ROM edition of Teatro
     Espanol del Siglo de Oro by the director of Chadwyck-Healey
     Espana, Cambridge, England, and the director of the editorial
     committee, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas de
     Madrid. The CD-ROM edition will include the works of the major
     Spanish Golden Age playwrights.

     Marvin B. Sussman, Unidel Professor Emeritus of Human Behavior,
     has been appointed to the editorial board of The History of the
     Family, an international quarterly publication.
