Cooperative bee project recognized

The beekeeping project of the Delaware-Panama Partners of the
Americas was awarded the American Express Award for program excellence
at a recent Partners of the Americas convention in Trinidad.
Dewey M. Caron, entomology and applied ecology, is coordinator of
the project with Jose Camargo of the Panama Ministry of Agriculture.
The Delaware/Panama, Farmer-to-Farmer beekeeping project was
established to help Panamanian beekeepers rebuild their industry,
which was hurt by the arrival of Africanized bees.
The project is part of the U.S. Agency for International
Development Farmer-to-Farmer program and was initiated in 1992.
