Reading March 18 of Williams' play

The Departments of English and Theatre will cosponsor a staged
reading of Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on Monday, March
18.
Presented by the Gourmet Reader's Theatre, the reading will begin
at 7:30 p.m. in the Bacchus Theatre at the Hen Zone in the Perkins
Student Center. Admission is free, and refreshments will be provided.
The staged reading is directed by James Cunningham, theatre, and
features New York actress Jane Lowe, along with members of the campus
and local communities.
Considered one of Williams' best plays, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
focuses on Maggie, who struggles "like a cat on a hot tin roof" to
regain the affections of her husband, Brick, and to rouse him to fight
for his rightful share of the family inheritance.
The Gourmet Reader's Theatre began last semester when producer
Joy Schweizer assembled a group of professional and community actors
to perform a reading of the play, A House for Fools by Mary Rose
Callaghan.
The evening was a success, and the core members of the group
decided to continue collaborating with both campus and community
members to perform readings of plays being taught by the Department of
English.
