Lecture on U.S. Supreme Court
Joel Grossman, professor of political science at the University
of Wisconsin in Madison and visiting professor at Johns Hopkins
University, will speak on the "The Dynamics of Institutional Change:
The U.S. Supreme Court," from 7:30-9 p.m., Thursday, March 7, in Room
006 of Kirkbride Lecture Hall.
The focus of his lecture will be contemporary changes in the U.S.
Supreme Court.
A scholar who has studied law and the judiciary for more than
three decades, Grossman is the author or editor of six books and 50
articles on judges, lawyers, the courts and the role of law.
Currently, he is working on exploring the legitimacy and capacity of
the Supreme Court as a social policy maker and the political
dimensions of the Supreme Court nomination and confirmation process.
The program is cosponsored by the Legal Studies Program, the
departments of Political Science and International Relations and
