Peter Weil, anthropology, was interviewed on the Voice of America
Feb. 17 about The Gambia, a West African country celebrating its
25th anniversary of independence from Great Britain. The VOA
radio network reaches nearly 100 million people around the world
each week. The interview was arranged by the Office of Public
Relations.
Allan Fanjoy, international programs and special sessions, was
appointed chairperson of the research committee, North American
Association of Summer Sessions, serving through 1997.
Frank B. Murray, H. Rodney Sharp Professor of Educational Studies
and Psychology, was selected to serve a three-year term as a
member of the board of visitors for the University of Pittsburgh
School of Education.
Ratna Mandakumar, educational studies, was appointed to the
editorial advisory board of the Journal of Educational
Measurement, the official journal of the National Council on
Measurement in Education.
E. Kent St. Pierre, accounting, was elected national chairperson
for the teaching and curriculum section, American Accounting
Association.
Roland E. Bounds, Delaware Geological Survey, was elected to the
national board of Directors of Friends of Mineralogy Inc. and
concurrently to the position of treasurer.
