Iceland Symphony in Mitchell Hall
Osmo Vanska will direct the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in concert
at the University at 8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 26. The concert, to be held
in Mitchell Hall, will feature Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, Op.
95, "From the New World"; Jon Leifs' Galdra-Loftur Overture; and
Sibelius' Symphony No. 2 in D. Major, Op. 43.
The youngest national orchestra in Europe, the Iceland Symphony
is known for its remarkable artistry. Vanska is an excellent
clarinetist and also the conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra in
his native Finland.
Tickets for the UD concert are $5 for full-time UD
undergraduates, and $10 for others with UD identification and $15 for
the general public. Tickets are available at the Perkins Student
Center and the Bob Carpenter Center box offices, and through
Ticketmaster. A convenience charge may apply.
